Altered peripheral nerve function resulting from haemodialysis.
The amplitudes of muscle and nerve action potentials evoked median nerve stimulation were recorded just before and immediately after haemodialysis. These revealed a growht of action potential amplitude during dialysis. It is suggested that some component of the defective peripheral nerve function that inevitably accompanies uraemia is temporarily improved during dialysis.
متن کاملNanotechnology for peripheral nerve regeneration
Peripheral nerve injuries (PNI) can lead to lifetime loss of function and disfigurement. Different methods such as conventional allograft procedures and using of biological tubes have problems for damaged peripheral nerves reconstruction. Designed scaffolds with natural and synthetic materials are now widely used in the reconstruction of damaged tissues. Utilization of absorbable and non-absorb...

متن کاملPeripheral nerve function in chronic liver disease.
Peripheral nerve function has been studied in 50 patients with chronic liver disease. An increase in the latency or a reduction in the response amplitude of the evoked sensory potential of the median nerve was detected in 34 of the 50 subjects. This was in striking contrast to the paucity of neurological signs and symptoms suggestive of peripheral nerve damage seen in these patients. There was ...
متن کاملSciatic Nerve Neuropathy in Cynomolgus Monkey Macaca Fascicularis: Altered Leg Usage and Peripheral Nerve Firing
Sciatic nerve is susceptible to trauma and injuries. Animal models for sciatic nerve trauma are mostly in rodents, with limited information about injury-induced neuropathy in non-human primates. We constructed a model of sciatic nerve neuropathy (SNN) in the cynomolgus macaque monkey, Macaca fascicularis, with mild injury to, but without transection of, the sciatic nerve. Monkeys’ behavioral an...
